G'day guys , this is my first ever post in the Toyota section , so go easy on me
our 4wd club was involved in manning the sausage sizzle at the Grand opening of TJM @ seven hills in sydney today.
There was an articulation ramp available for anyone to who wished to test the Flex of their vehicles but before you could go on it you had to sign a decleration/disclaimer form incase anything happended.
I took some photos of this FJ series Cruiser that I thought some of you guys might have seen already , I have no idea what series cruiser it is so please feel free to post up and inform me ,
I would like to learn a bit more about Toyotas.
and my Favourite shot

I got talking to the owner , the Toyota has a 6.5 litre detroil ( i think ) Turbo Diesel , it sounds very sweet , the zost i noticed was a straight thru and it sounded like a V8 Petrol engine

This machine did a few comps a couple of years ago without much success. It still had crusier diffs for a while but with the amount of torque connected via a manual gear box and a driver that perhapes was a little heavy on the loud pedal it broke often. Some time later it got nissan diffs but I havn,t seen it for ages. It started life as a 40 series. I believe macquarie 4x4 had some input to its build.

out of curiosity is it just me, or does that ramp look abit on the flat side?
im sure the one used at tufftruck etc the OPW ramp is alot steeper?

Thanks for the info guys , the owner of the FJ Cruiser
won a TJM 9500 lb winch today as he got the highest
score on the ramp.
I was standing next to the ramp yeserday taking these
shots and I nearly choked from the smoke straight out
of the big zost pipe out the side , it is running a bit on the rich side
hehe
yeah the Ramp is flat , but it's very long and gradual , I suspect
TJM may have done this as to test out the less modified vehicles.
as well as the heavily modifed ones . lot of standard vehicles climbed
the ramp as well.
Surprised Package a "Jeep wrangler" travelled further than his wheelbase . and TJM also awarded him with a Winch , they
were giving prizes away today

that is very generous of them indeed.
im suprised none of the comp trucks went.... i reckon some would have if they knew there was a winch as prize.

I was also surprised no Comp trucks turned up there at TJM grand opening , That owner of FJ was ecstatic he'd won the 9500 lb TJM winch even thou it was kinda given he had the prize in a Bag just by looking at his Scores
, but it was reallllly generous of TJM to award the 2nd place with a Winch as well , good on em ,I reckon they have won the owner of the Wrangler as a customer for life .

I'm the owner of the Jeep - it was good of them to give away a second prize, it's the first time I've put the Jeep up a ramp - interesting to see how far it will flex.
Although I have more than a sneaking suspicion that giving away a winch to a vehicle without a winch bar might not have been entirely altruistic!
