Hilux driveshaft Help.

i know this question gets thrown around a bit but i cant seem to find some one with a 100% confident answer for it. I have a solid axle 2.8 lux and its got it lifted and im flogn out centre bearings (the rubber bit around it) i also get it stuck on rocks and rip the whole shaft in peices coz it tends to catch a few and stop me dead in my tracks.
can you get a one peice off a lux? if so what model? If not where do i go to get it made? im from the sydney/wollongong area. I got a price for a one peice to be made up from a local dude but they said approx $800 which i thought was a bit over the top. i can buy alot of center bearings for that thanks anyway haha. Thankyou .

1 piece shafts as far as i know have to be made and balanced properly, thats pretty much the going rate. if you make one half assed then it will do more damage to rear pinion and gbox than you would like.
otherwise watch the classifieds on here, i think there was one for sale recently.

there is a model of lux which has them stock, from memory its late 90's single cabs, maybe grab a tape measure check what you need and find a wrecker with a few or climb under some cars in the a car park somwhere
.
One of the guys on here bought one of a stocker at a wrecker and it cost him $300.

Most luxes pre 1990 and 4runners have 1 piece tailshafts and yea they cost a bit normally $200 keep on ebay they come up for $50-$100 sometimes...

There is a place in Campsie that do them Not sure the price though. They are the ones that sell all of those centre bearing on ebay. A & L Drive Shafts 6/46 Elizabeth St, Campsie NSW 2194 - (02) 9787 1622. I bought a centre bearing off them.. been under the car for about 5 months, no problems yet.. the only thing is that it wasnt painted..

Yea there was and I bought it
What a difference fixed all the viabration problems.

theres a guy on ebay called phats4runners.
he had a one piece tailshaft going for $30 bucks.
Should be straight bolt in as well.

A one piece tailshaft is going to give you worse clearance.
I cut up my two piece and had a driveline shop extend it to suit my wheelbase for $250.
You're flogging out the centre bearing due to increased operating angles. Try spacing it down a bit, as well filling the rubber carcass with sikaflex to give extra support.

yea but i can get the walls made thick & also have a ladder bar that is lower then the shaft so things should hit that and slide off insted of the shaft. id rather take my chances with hitting the shaft rather then hitting the centre bearing which is gunna stop me rather then slide off

Hey just make sure if your gonna fork out the money, get a real thick one made cause as said the tail shaft becomes the lowest most vulnerable point. Im on my 3rd i swear they're made out of tin foil stock. and i think a ladder bar underneath will be way to low but see how you go.
And if you bend a shaft you cant drive home on it or it takes out the pinion and tranfer bearings with it, i rekon 2 piece are the way to go most of the time.

to stop the rubber flogging out get a new center bearing and go nuts with a tube of urethane, let it set aleast over night before you drive.

you can keep the 2 piece shaft and solve the problem but getting a solid steel version lathed up will set you back about 200-300 as its rather hard to machine
