Hey peoples!! Just wondering if it is true that hilux tailshafts are prone to getting slogged out in the splines?? Im running 1980 hiulx diffs in my 1991 suzuki sierra.. in running a hilux tailshaft in the front, and the back. I havent had any probs with the rear tailshaft.. but the front shaft (which is originally a lux rear) keeps buggering up in the splines?? This is the 2nd one that has worn out within 12 months. When i got them, they werent new though. I have a fair bit of flex in the zook, and i am unable to run a normal hilux slip joint, cause the crash on themself when the suspension is flexed. After a bit of researching.. i found a slip joint out of a 85 lux (DC joint end), which has heaps more angle

So this is what im running now. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there another vehicle out there with the same bolt pattern as a lux, which also has heaps of angle on the slip joints? Please help!?!? Thanks heaps :)

Do you regulary grease them (like before every time you go 4wd'n and after a session in mud/water)

Its not normal for them to flog out, but if you have been buying them partially flogged then they prob wont last long, they should last a long long time if greased...

thanks for the reply mate. Yup, always geasing them and the unis etc. If i could find a decent/new one from an 85 model (like previously stated - they have better uni angles) i would just buy one.. but their bloody hard to come across.. any idea if theres another shaft out there which is commonly used in replacement or anything :?
