the split transfer with h/brake came out on late model 40 45 and 47's with a four speed i think but I thought once they went to five speed the h/brake was on the rear wheels

If its your gearbox that is stuffed a 5 sp out of a 60s or 75s bolt on your transfer and shifter cover if it isnt the same. if its the tranny then a 40s one will bolt on if you cant rebuild.

its a h55f with split transfer. depending on what top plate it has ( where the shifter sticks out at the top) would tell you if it was the origional h55f that came in the 47/40/42 series ( this is GOOD/valuable) of if its a box from a different series cruiser for instance, 60-70 series. essentially they are the same BAR the top plate.
the transfer you have is also rarer/ more valuable with the handbrake drum on a split case.

the 5 speed is from 60 or 75 series
the transfer case is from 47 series
