Not much to report, but for Germo's sake, here's a photo of his new toy (Mick's old beast), which we are slowly modifying in prepartion for rego.

The rear barwork will be removed, and replaced with a tube tray. other mods will be fairly basic, a simple tidy up, a lick of paint, and some BIG rubber for the beast.

After that, more mods in preparation for comps etc.. one thing at a time.

Lesson for today, bald, stock tyres(Lux) do not climb piles of dirt very well......they just spin.

Note: the sooner people buy some of his zook leftovers, the sooner he can afford the BIG tyres....wink, wink, nudge, nudge... :D

Fair call, it will require a fair amount of work till it's RTA inspection friendly.......but it can be done.

some more action,

rear section gone. Running a 36inch simex on rear and a 35 A/T on front.

goes alot better than 4 split rims. even thought I only had two good tyres on it. doesn't sit very straight, a bit lop sided

ok so I haven't been completely lost. I've been observant, but now its time for an update especially considering I want to challenge tim!

so I have done a bit more body work and put a track bar over the rear diff. works great, the thing is a weapon on grass with cig rear and near bald split rims. but still gets up stuff easily. the track bar helped with getting up ledges as it stop the car from slowing as the rear diff didn't rotate anymore. very recomended.

have tube rear on and panel in, front clip is finished, just needs cutting a bit, but fits 36 simex easily. had no clearence issues and looks fat. tyres on ofset rims stuck out 8 inches. but split rims are ok.

how much left?
well welds need a tidy up and the strip it and pain. exhaust, eng and rego.

"if people tell you something can't be done, then prove them wrong."

that my jerry springer to this post.

enjoy,
ashley

ok.............

Note: still allot of work to do before it 'complies' for rego :D but we are making progress, slowly but surely, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

here's a few dodgy photo's from last night's 'test and tune' paddock bash before we comenced with the 'booty fab' fabrication of 'junk parts'.

As it stands.........with some 36"s

a bit of flex in the creek......

Cool.

So it looks like you are running dual shackles on the front, how is it linked?

What are the specs on diffs etc etc

by DeWsE
Grimbo it looks as though it has a shackle reverse with a drop spring mount at the front.

Posted: Fri Oct 29, 2004 9:59 am
by Drewfus
no dual shackles, its just a 'shackle reversal' (front fixed).

Zook rears up front, hilux rears down back.

Will try and find a photo to illustrate.

Hilux w/t diffs (5.11 centres from memory, will be changed to 4.7 shortly).

so there we have some pics. the rock with rubber on it is not from the simex, it crawled that in 1st gear. I'm keen to keep 5.1's until I figure its too slow on the road. because its awesome on the rocks. although 2nd gear is better for a little punch up the ledge, but first is a show off.

well thats about it. its coming along well, and yes tim might be in trouble.

enjoy.

hey drewfus can you email the rest of those pics to me please.

I did notice the "current" in there. and so I look forward to the next rig. you will have to work hard, because I know I'll kill your red thing.
but nothing is better than proving it on the track.

if they are lux diffs they will prolly be 5.29s
and you would have to go back to 4.88s

if you decide to do this ill buy ya 5.29s off ya as i need some spares
