Hi there guys,

been here for a while, but not in the rover section.

i tried the search - but the search here sucks...

Any way, i have a mate looking for a cheap tow vehicle, and the land rovers seem to be quite cheap for what they are. the boat is big, so will be a serious tow option (over 2.5 tonne)

any way - what is the difference between land rover and range rover?

are they made by the same company? etc

ALso major prob, draw backs??? looking at around a late 90's 2000 odd model... pobably v8.

Cheers

Id be looking at a 95 on V8 disco the later the better there cheap enough and have a 3.5 T towing capacity and a 150KG ball weight rating ..

Id stay away from the auto as in my opinion the ZF is shyte and expensive to fix a good 5 speed one with minimal drive line back lash would be a better option ..

Look around for a while and find a good one there about i just got a 95 D1 3.9V8 5spd on LPG for 2k just out of rego and needed nothing for a pinky had to fit a new starter and a new dizzy and its a great truck :D

A Range Rover is just a model of the overall Land Rover model line up - just as the Freelander, Discovery, Defender, County etc are also just models within the range.

All the larger models have similar towing capacities of around 3.5tonne but you need to check max tow ball weights - as mentioned Disco 1s only have 150kg and while I do not know for sure the earlier Range Rovers should be the same (a disco 1 is the same car as a RR but with a different body).

Thanks guys,

Thats clears up my range rover/land rover confusion....

Do they have any regular probs?

Like gq patrol with the heads cracking... or weak diff like some of the new cruisers?

Cheers
