80 & 100 series rear diff centre

Post by tas80 »

I have tried searching but didn't find the info I was looking for.

I have a rear air locker in my 3FE powered 80 series, and the standard 4.1 ratio and have just bought a HZJ105R.

The air lockers are a different part number for each so obviously I can't change the locker between diffs.

Can I swap the 2 diff centres as a whole, using the 80 series centre in the 100 with the 100 series axles and vice versa.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there mark its Gav, your diff will fit the new bus but wouldn't fit a 4.5 petrol 100 as they are 4.3:1 ratio

You could do kind of what I've done, I've just fitted a 100 series front and rear arb's to my 80 running 4.3's all I had to do was fit 80 series star gears to the 100 locker.. you could go the otuer way around.. It would have been good to do the 100 hubs and axles but then I would have had to make some new hubs to fit the 80's 6 stud wheels and so on..

Spoke to Peter Finch this morning, the diesel 100's have a 4.3 ratio anyway.

100's are 32 80's are 30 thats why I got 80 star gears in my 100 locker to fit 4.3 into my 80, without changing all the other parts..
