Keyways

where do i get them from? their for the PTO shaft - universal joint. Powauto (who now own thomas) told me they don't stock them, but a generic one will fit...
well where do i get THOSE from?

i searched for keysteel
pretty simple
do you need any other pto bits to complete your setup ?? ive still got a few spares lying about that i was gonna use but dont think i will anymore
i know i had some spare keyways but i picked the straightest ones when i rebuilt my setup earlier this year i know some where pretty bananaed (is that a word)

dunno, what you got lol.
i really only need the keyway, the chain drive (ordered it from Powauto...) and my cable shifter is fubar'd (but i was going to make up a proper lever using my old transfer shifter)

The keyway is the slot machined into the shaft/pulley etc.

Yeah, and the part you boys are talking about is the "key", as in key steel

If you got some shear pins and you want less than 5 bucks each i'll have em.

go to bunnings and buy a pack of bolts that fit along with a tube of loctite cause they undo and fall out
never seen a proper sheer pin in my life

yeah but if i asked "where do you get keys" some smart arse would say "mr minit cuts keys"
PCman, can you take some measurements of the keys you've got? esp thickness

the ones for the shaft appear to be 4.7-4.8mm i dont actually have any spare keyways but mesured there they fit in the uni join
id find a local mob and take a unjointi with you to get the correct keysteel
edit - the website above list a 4.76mm keysteel so thats prolly the way to go if you want to order online

any one got an exploded diagram of a thomas pto drive box that bolts onto the back of a transfer.
Havent gotten around to ringing them up yet

be carefull when purchasing keysteel, there is alot of chinese stuff comming in and its the wrong size!!, we got a batch at work the other week cause it was cheaper
, wasnt even tight in the keyway, make sure its the yanky stuff.
