Should a supercharger leak like this? Vid and help needed!

Hi guys, I need some help here.


I have a supercharged 3.9 rover, and atm, were having a few problems with it. Should the supercharger be leaking air out of this area

please have a look at this video i have taken, and let me know

AFAIK a supercharger shouldn't leak air anywhere except possibly from a faulty burst plate(backfire relief).
Hard to see in the vid but is it leaking from between two machined, gasketed faces or is it leaking from a crack?

Looks like a centrifical supercharger, and is leaking between two machined cast surfaces at the supercharger outlet. What has happened for this to leak (ie. have you removed the blower recently, or just found it this way)?

Should be a case of replacing the gasket, and possibly cleaning up the two mating surfaces.

same deal as a turbo,two machined surfaces,like so, so you can position
the comp housing.
its not clamping enough?
could there be shyte between those two surfaces?
if its worn or warped then its down to the machine shop!
or a smear of urethane might do,but thats not the answer!

we have not touched it since we bought it, however its been back and forwards from the mechanics, but its proving to be a bit of a shitbrick.

I pulled it out last night, and then pulled it apart, and there was no seal on the surface, and or any crap lodged under there.

We made up a gasket, stuck it in, and let it harden overnight, and it has sealed the air leak (started it this moring), however, the motor is still being a PITA. Were slowly working out what to expect from the motor/setup, but its being very fickle.

i assume there should be a large dia small thickness o-ring fitted in there
like how compressor housings on turbo's are sealed

google the brand and part no of blower and look for a parts breakdown of the blower..

Is it a vortec or a paxton blower ?
