URGENT. diff swap help

so i swapped in my 4.6 hp today. when im coasting it whines kinda loudly. all backlash settings were good. should i b worried. under load it is quite and smooth. please help. cheers in advance ray

backlash has very little to do with noise during driving. what did the pattern look like on the crownwheel when covered in bearing blue before fitting?

as asked on patrol forum - are they new gears?
or are they gears out of something else?
As said they may have a bad wear pattern in them.

thanks guys. they are brand new. pattern was good as per manual. they are itialian gears. i dont care if i blow them out in the bush but id like to feel safe driving on the highway.

did you set your preload correctly and install new bearings?

new bearings yep and i thought my preload was fine but will check it out when i remove it in the next day or so. thanks

check you pattern again or get a diff shop to check the diff pattern, it sounds like you've set the pinion height up incorrectily causing incorrect tooth contact
