dave, here are a few of the longer shocks to look at-
gq rear
80/100 series front
jeep xj or yj (sprung over) ome no. n331

i know the jeep specs, 422 compressed 748 extended 324 travel.
i think these are pin top, eye bottom.
if you are keeping the leafs, i would try gq rear shocks placed on an angle (like stock gq) in the rear, but maybe place them on more of an angle.
make new upper mounts for the front and use any of the above shocks, except toyota that need new lower mount as well.

Thought of getting in touch with your local ARB??? They should have the biz on sizes, extension max, compression max etc.

Thanks for that David...

I may have to have a chat to about it sometime! :D

Haven't tried ARB...
Asked Kaymar around the corner (or two), and they didn;t want to give anything away as the shocks are designed for specific vehicles, so that was pretty unhelpful

Thanks anyway!

Shocks are designed to be suspension specific.
A leaf spring has a lot of friction and so is self damping to a degree, therefore it requires a softer shock then a coil or torsion bar, which, having less friction ,require a higher dampning.

Talk to the guys at either Bilstien or KOni in Melbourne.

They will give you all the info you need.

Both do custom shocks.

Thanks guys...

I understand about the suspension systems, but am trying to find a catalouge of some kind which states the lenghts available across the whole range....

This info is very helpful though, thanks!

Food for thought..

I have the catalogue in hard copy. The above sizes are mentioned there...maybe I'll scan it and post up sometimes.
