Rego cost CTP insurance

I am looking at getting my fj40 regoed and i did the online cal and it says its going to cost 936.15 and then 808 each year after... WTF in vic it was like 300 and 150 for third party insurance. Is the CTP compulsory or can you just get third party insurance??

You have to pay CTP.
Welcome to QLD. The state where everything is taxed.
At least you came here before Capt Bligh sold it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I may well be, but doesn't the C in CTP stand for compulsary?

The CTP is your third party insurance should you have an accident and kill or maim someone, so no its not optional hence being called "Compulsary Third Party". Be happy it isnt an 8 cyclinder then you would be up for $1070 a year

well, all that extra rego tax has been going back to roads, making queensland roads the best in australia
I believe many moons ago the choice was cheaper rego or 8cpl off the bowser price, and we chose the 8cpl whereas other states kept rego low. Im glad its the 'Smart State' cause if we didnt have that title, i cant think of anything positive we could call it.
