I want to part time my 80 extra cab. I'm going to put genuine manual locking hubs up front just need the rest of the gear. I haven't had anything to do with the kits before so i dont know who has the best gear. A heads up would be great.

cheers.

by far the cheapest and easiest is to find a part time transfer and tailshafts.

just did this in mine, there are two part time cases: manual and electric.

i used the manual fj80 t-box and only needed rear shaft (50mm longer) - bolts straight in - did a longfield upgrade when i had the hubs off too.

part time conversion was heaps cheaper than any kit, made it quieter and removed a lot of the backlash from the drivetrain - didn't have to pull the case apart either!

an electric part-time transfer case is a full time case that has been converted. the HF1A Part time) is always manual select and the HF2A is electric diff lock, manual low range select.

but yes agree that finding a part time case and tailshaft is by far the cheapest, easiest part time conversion. takes about 2 - 3 hours.
