Im after any help / past experience on fitting Holden 5L VN 304i to 89 GQ lwb tb42.

Already have Castlemain Rod Shop kit and Marks Adptors engine mount kit and h/d clutch kit.

Motor is bolted up to bellhousing after remouldin the fire wall on the passenger side.

Having trouble lining up the engine mounts to sit flush on the chassi rails.

What other things have others had trouble with?;
wiring,
exhaust,
heater/radiator plumbing,
air intake,
vaccum hoses,
endless air,
anything else???

Thanks in advance!

Not happy with the castlemain rod shop bellhousing, I should have just spent the extra $ and did a marks adpt kit.

But its finished after 6 months off the road.

Probly true!

Its all the little things that are really annoying! Especially the fact that nissa run metric bolts and holden run imperial!

Still worked out cheaper for me than going turbo deisel.

You need a Kingswood sump (reverse bowl)

Or you'll smash it when you flex.

just goto the wreckers and ask for a 253 or 308 sump and pickup

Cars up and running thanks to my freindly mechanic and auto sparky!
I now have a GQ efi tank with pump and sendr to put in and a rear bowl sump as advised.

If I was ever to do a conversion again, (probly not) I would buy a doner car and transplant everything I could ie; motor, box, wiring, ignition, dash, radiator, fuel tank, ect so that it would be as close as possible to how it was in its old home.
I think that would be the best way so you could see what went where and what it did. I have never seen under the bonnet of a V8 commodre in any detail so I wasnt sure what went where and did what??? I had to rely on other peoples knowledge and knowhow to get the job done this made it a lengthy process!

Having said that the power it good especially in low range
