Problem fitting the later bigger brakes to 80 series

Ok so finally got around to cleaning up the front end, rebuilding the calipers and fitting the new brake bits, but the shitebox has struck again.

When I go to tighten up the caliper mounting brackets it presses the inner pad hard against the rotor to the point I cannot turn it even with a bit of leverage on the wheel studs. This is when tightening the bolts little more than finger tight.

Pads are the 100 series Bendix 4WD pads with no shims etc just the bare pads. I have a good 1mm or so clearance on the outer pad and a little clearance between the caliper body and the inner pad but the inner pad won;t sit closer to the body as it is hard up against the pistons which are fully compressed.

My quick fix I think will be to cut some stainless tomorrow at work to use as shim material. Some .55mm, .7mm and .9mm to see what will give me room till the pads wear.

However anyone know what might be the problem and has anyone fitting the 100 series pads had this clearance issue. I've measured all the pads and none are sufficiently thinner to swap around to give the clearance required.

ahh finaly the brakes are done almost. did you get the 105 pads or 100 pads. i used the 105 pads without the shims. have you tried fitting the caliper first then fitting the pads. from memory when i did mine there was bugger all room. are you sure the pistons are all the way home. i had to use a g clamp to get my pistons all the way home.
hope this helps

Yeah got motivated when rears were leakign from LSPV. Put a kit through it as it looked fine and wasn;t leaking before but not sure how it was working. So now I bought a new LSPV and seeing as I will need to bleed the whole system it seemed silly not to change the front and bleed once.

My understanding is hte 105 and 100 pads are the same and from memory the part numbers were the same. Pistons are definately home and I did try clamping to make sure after problem surfaced. I doubt the pad would go in afterwards. Ther is actaully clearance on the other pad but tightening the mounting bolt pull the caliper and therefore inner pad hard against the rotor with little tightening.
