difference that I know of
drive shafts lengths,
rear diff flange ,
gear box cross member,
gear box ,
gear sicks, boots, cover plate ,
clutch line/pipe.
engine mount chassis bracket on right hand side is 50mm further along the rail.
radiator,
I'm sure theres more.
(this was what I found when changing my GU from 2.8 to 4.2),

mechanically it will be basically the same as RD28T to TD42. There have been a few threads on this in the last week.

its about having more power than i have now from my 2.8. I dont want to do wheelies down the freeway i just want to be able to drive it comfortably Wanting to do this conversion cos it is the quickest easiest and cheapest option. Not only that but i bought a nissan for a reason.

Hey mate,
Im in the middle of transplanting a TB45 into a GQ and running into issues with the ECM and the nissan immobiliser (NATS). Havent found away around it unless you grab the NATS system from the donor vehicle. Let me know if you find a better way. At this stage im looking at getting a after market ecu
Cheers

Hey mate,
I have just put a TB45 into my GQ, I brought the car with no engine gbox etc. but I think it started life as a TD42. I fabricated some engine mounts (as for what I am planning to use it for didnt want to rely on standart mount type) but I am fairly sure they will bolt straight in.
I mated the motor to a standard tb42 5 speed gearbox and transfer, including tb42 flywheel. all has bolted straight up with no problems.
Actually tho, I am only just getting the clutch to disengage, Apparently this is a common problem with aftermarket clutches in GQ's? So i have sleeved the slave cylinder down one size to get a bit more reach out of the clutch. Has helped a bit, Changes gear without crunching but I still want a bit more clearance.
Used standard crossmember and gearbox mounts. The tailshaft i bought had a different sized flange on the rear diff end, didnt match up with the gq diff in the car, (im sure you could get one to match tho) Thankfully I was fitting GU 4.6 diffs under it anyway, and these matched up perfectly.
As for the ECU it is running an Autronic aftermarket computer (Came with the motor) This was quite easy to wire into the car, (Power, fuel pump, coil, dissy.) I think however the motor has an RB30 distributor fitted to it, to make it easier for the computer to wire up.
PM me if you have any queries, Hope this helps, not sure wheather this all relates to the 2.8 or not
