Hi all
Im wanting to convert my 83' MQ Sd33 SWB Patrol into a 5 speed. Has this been done? does the MQ 5 speed box bolt straight in? does this require any changes to drive shaft lengths, mounts etc?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Gents,
Callum.

Re: 83' MQ Sd33 SWB Patrol 5 speed conversion
was once a common conversion, rarely done these days tho.boatmadmaniac wrote:Im wanting to convert my 83' MQ Sd33 SWB Patrol into a 5 speed. Has this been done? does the MQ 5 speed box bolt straight in? does this require any changes to drive shaft lengths, mounts etc?
The 5 speed will bolt straight up without any issues at all
but ...........
front drive shaft will need to be lengthened or replaced using the doner vehicles shaft
The rear shaft will need shortening
& the 4spd mounts will need to be modified ......... because the 5 spd box combination is 135mm longer than the 4 speed gearbox combination, the 5th gear is in its own housing thats between the gearbox and the transfer case, this housing is 135mm long.
