Sierra Rear Brakes (Drum) - New Shoes - HD or Regular?

Hey all

I'm up for new rear shoes pretty soon (nearly metal on metal!) and was wondering if 'heavy duty' shoes are worth getting or just stick to a regular replacement?

I've had mixed reactions to running HD front pads in the past - one set of HDs were terrible until you heated them up, and stock were far better, while another was great (still running them).

Being that its my DD and i gear down a lot (not using the brakes heavily) but also chew them out in mud - im a little lost as to what to do =)

Thoughts?

Didnt even know there were HD rear pads available lol but I hav recently replaced the rear pads with standard replacements (drums) and wheel cylinder seals and they work fantastic! Touchy and hold very well

I chew my rears out so quick I normally dont have rear brakes lol Still passes the brake test at rego time with just the fronts though so I'm not too bothered, plus I use my gearing mostly

I had two sets at any given time would put the new ones in and send the others off to be re-bonded.

I honestly don't think it really matters much

fair enough =)

my rear end locks up on gearing down (no brakes) anyway - although the rears do help - can definitely tell im running low on rears atm.

cool as - chucked in standard replacements, however my cylinders - while looking ok on the outside were corroded and mangled inside - so new left and right cylinders (different each side too! ~$15 difference in price) and OMG now my handbrake works!!! haha

Its made my brakes all twitchy again like new - i just assumed the 31's were the cause of poor handbrake and squishier braking - but turns out its the cylinders.
