I've done something to the brakes on my 60
I've bled the lines, oils coming out
But they still won't catch
Anyone got any ideas?
Otherewise I have to go to a mechanic... And get another lecture on taking care of my car
Any ideas would be appreciated...

we undid the brake lines at the callipers and pumped the pedal
I almost emptied the master cylinder so a lot of oil flowed quite freely out of the hoses...
Best description is you can pump the pedal - its hard
But I still don't have brakes...
Mate thinks it might be the booster...

ok to bleed your brakes you need to have 1 guy working the pedal and the other working the valves, get a bit of hose clear hose and a bottle
put the clear hose on the bleed nipple and into the bottle.
open the valve and push down on the pedal, then close the valve and let the pedal out, do this till all the air is out for the brake and it only blows brake fluid into the hose and no bubbles, repeat this for all the breaks

i know my spelling is bad hope this is easy enough to understand

You didnt bleed it properly, i know that. Just pumping pedal without someone shutting and oppening bleed nipple at correct time will just suck air into system. Also you started with RHF wheel, the total opposite if the proper wheel (furthest away from matser cylinder first) . If you getting oil out of ya nipples not brake fluid you got problems too    HEHEHEHEHE. If anyoe has any ideas i have checked the car. There is no vacum from the pump at back of altenator. Also lots of oil, like the vac pump oil seal let go a fair while ago. Anyone got any experience with these. I am mechanic by trade but not done much with yota vac pumps, so any help good, looks like it will be reco alt and vac pump as alt is in pretty poor shape too (lack of maintenance). Cheers for whatever ya know.
layto....

here is a silly question but when playing around in the slop, what is the best way to "maintain" and "preserve" your alternator????

i went through a couple on my old zook, dont want a repeat as the 40 will be too fooookin heavy to be pushing all the time???

didnt want to sound like a spastic but also didnt want to be back here in a month asking the same shite???

cheers

Thanks anthony
Also I didn't get air in the lines and I cracked about 8 different bolts that led to and from the brakelines... Hahahahahaha
We figured out the prob with the vac pump
We'd lost a key way so the shaft from the alternator was turning but not spinning the pump
I'm also making a splash guard for my alternator gettin' a bit of steel and drillin' it to the chassis rails - Thats me and layton, Layton said he knows how so I'd say you could get some help doin' it
As to the maintenance and stuff - Dunno
Ask Layton...
