Bilstein shocks?

woundering who's running bilstein shocks? what are they like, any common issues etc looking at fitting them to a 80 series with katbar swing away draws and a roof rack! cheers

Fitted them to my 60. Made a fair bit of difference, but my old shocks were dead dead.
They seem to improve ride quality.

what sort of $$ did you pay for them?

Awesome, very high quality shock absorber. Due to the nature of the 80 rear shock mounting position I would recommend running stone guards to help protect the shock.

love my billies!
got 5125's on the front and 5150's in the back. both with 10" stroke.
firm on road but flex to the bump stop when wheeling.. very predictable... love em and got them thru lockted up when the dollar was good. think i was paid around $125/each for the 5125's and about $145/each for the 5150's. so $500 all up delivered to my door.
considering i had procomp es9000's before and they were about $100/each a worth while upgrade..

i use bilsteins 12" 5125 shocks on my 75 cruiser with 80 series 4" dobinson coils under all 4 corners and the shocks are wayyyy to soft, ive had to extend the shock mounts because i was bottoming them out driving on hard bumps,also snapped rear shock mount off the diff from bottoming out rear shocks that hard and bent the bottom lip aroudn the shock .. tought dogg adjustables is what im thinking of now, if i can find the right lengths.

5125 are meant for leaf's more the coils arent they?
If your wanting to offload them i'd be keen on a pair if they are still in good nick

yer well locktup told me they were all good to go on an 80 series wagon so i thought it'd be alright on my setup...ill let you know if i find some other shocks with the correct lengths im after.

A very high quality shock - ran a few different types before them and very happy with them ( especially helped "tame" the rear axle ).
Of course if the shock isn't matched to the vehicle then your wasting your time BUT a good Bilstein installation IMO is a good, but expensive choice.

Hi all...Definately good quality shocks.The thing that stands out with them is they dont fade to much on big klm dirt roads like the Rancho's,Tuffdogs ect.
