removing a leaf

It all depends if you want to carry any weight or how much weight is on it, tray or long range tank etc. If you remove leafs you need spacers so you don`t lose height. You can take a skinny one out and see how it goes. If you take out the load leaf don`t expect to hold a load on the back of your ute even a small load will bottom out if you are not careful. Soften the leafs up and add extended shackles and longer shocks. Shocks will limit flex before your jigged springs, goodluck

IFS rear springs with 200mm eye to eye shackles.

its got extended shackles on it there about 5 - 6 inchs( home made) and rancho adjustables it also has a long range fuel tank, steel tray and carrys a dog cage so im guessing with that weight im better off not removing any leafs.

will the IFS ones fit straight up?? and if so would i be better off removing a leaf from the front and using the IFS ones on the rear??

cheers

haha why is it only leaf sprung guys who say this?

Longer leaves so shackles are at about 45*. And aim for basically flat leaves.

funny, i thought it was the 500 inch lifted patrol guys that said it.

leaves can flex.

mine isn't the flexiest out there, but it's more than enough

and i still say flex is overrated

flex is over rated, get lockers

if you want a ramp queen parabolic rears in the front ifs rears(without load leaves) in the rear + wicked shackle angle will give you as much flex as your going to get out of your lux with leaves

dont forget to lengthen brake lines, shocks etc to suit

i dont want a ramp queen the car is mainly used for hunting but i wanna start doing some 4bying.

it already has a lockright in the rear and works good but flex looks better

im going to go IFS in the rear and locktup 3'' flex springs in the front. the stuff was ordered today.

thanks for the help :D

I say if you can park your car on standard car ramps on opposite wheels (front right +rear left) you have enough flex (It's good if the car sits flat while doing it too) . I've had enough 4by's that had trouble even doing that!
I just did a suspension upgrade on my 100 series cruiser that actually removed a little flex

But I can jump it now!!!

u dont need to stop and pose drive up a track with a few ppl watching and if ur lifting wheels every where noone will say anything to u but if u drive it and keep all wheels on the ground it looks impressive and u will get compliments and when its all said and done thats what we are chasing

maybe i should start bringing spectators when i wheel...

Flex is so over rated. In my opinion, ride quality has to be paramount. If you want to ga places, lock it and gear it. John John out drove me time and time again in his geared, twin locked on 33's hilux.

I have an LN65 running LN106 gear which is basically the same. i have removed some rear leaves and reset the height to suit however it still lifts wheels like an ifs front so i have opted (ready to purchase) for the locktup 4" F&R with the inboarded shocks. Mostly because i need all 4 on the ground but my locker gets me where I need to get to. Hope i have made the right choice.
