I've found a wrecker with a complete GG TD42 wagon willing to sell me the complete air con system for $600.

He will remove everthing for me and I intend to fit it to my GQ TD42 which was never fitted with air con.

Is it hard to fit (particularly the under dash stuff? Will the swithches etc plug straight into my wiring loom? What about the price? Any tips?

Thanks

The aircon unit goes between the FAN unit and the heater housing. All the wiring should already be there--just wont be connected. You will need the unit that turns on/off the compressor--this is located on the outside of the aircon unit itself (a small white box). You'll need install the relays to turn on and off the compressor--these go underneath the plate next to the battery. The drier mounts just in front of the battery. The switch itself mounts next to the fan speed control.... high/low pressure cut-out switches mount on the drier itself.

Get a manual so you can follow the wiring diagram when you connect everything up. Remember that you will have to run it on R134a so make sure hoses and compressor are in good condition. Hydraulic hose shop (pirtek) can replace them if they are a bit suss. The shaft seal on the KIKKI type compressor can wear out if the unit has been dunked in mud as it sits down low in the engine bay thus causing gas to leak out. Usually the Genuine Nissan air uses a KIKKI compressor but they also use a SANDEN 508 as well.

Good luck :)
