Just got a Patrol. Now what?

Hey my bruthas!

Just bought a patrol and i wanna fit a big set of 33"x12.5" tyres.

My mate baz told me i'd need about a 6" lift and maybe a 2 or 3" bodylift. He reckons i should get some garden edging flares too. Cheap and look sick az.

Do yas reckon that will be enough to clear the tyres?

I think the engine is a bit slow so i wanna do an engine swap, maybe like a 20b rotor, or rb25 twin turbo, just something mild. Will the engine mounts line up or should i weld some new mounts in? I dont know how to weld yet but i can do a Tafe course.

I also like the look of the exo cages i've seen on some patrols. Im thinkin of going to the exhaust shop and getting them to bend up a cage for me. I've got connections with a bloke who uses 2mm wall exhaust tube, he reckons most people use 1.6mm wall tube. So should be strong enough ay.

What else do yas reckon i can do to the beast?

GQ or GU?
no point putting in an engine that is all power and no torque down low in the revs.
2"-3" lift will be fine to clear 33's. My Gu clears 35's with 4" lift.

Yeah the mazda 20b rotary is straight bolt in conversion for a patrol, no modifications required! And the loads of low down torque that a rotary has can really get the heavy patrol moving. Best conversion ever!

2.0mm!! Woah thats way overkill, for my rollcage I only used 0.9mm tube which the teenager at supercheap told me would be plenty! Think of all the weight you'll be saving. :finger:

First of all, if you are a fitter machinist as your profile suggests, WTF are they teaching you at TAFE these days??? If this is a serious post?? Please do some seaching before you ask silly questions that only attract ridicule and sarcasm.
If you wish to keep us entertained keep asking.

Surely he's just joking or as bogged suggested one of his mates has got on trying to make him look like a tool. Personaly I think it's funny that people are gullable enough to try and answer his questions with serious responses. Lol you gotta ask yourself who's the bigger twit lol

i reckon you should get one of those front wheel drive cadillac 500 CI all in one motor/gearbox/diff assemblies and wack it in the front ... then get another one and wack it in the back ...
join the cables together and you have a 1000 cubic inch twin steer beast

And to save even more weight, Don't weld it. Welds are much heavier than the tube. a much stronger and lighter alternative would be some gaffa tape coated in epoxy.
