Hey all...

Put my GQ up on the hoist tonight - Was going to pull the radiator out to start trying to resolve overhearing problems. Decided not to bother when I noticed Diesel pissing out of the injector pump.

It's coming out of the top, where there's a plate sort of thing on top. At the back of that plate where it joins to the main body of the pump.

Does that plate just come off and I can replace a gasket/o-ring or will things fly out?

Cheers.

Can you take a photo to give us a better idea of where you are talking about. you will get a quicker/ more accurate response. :) The covers on either side have a small$5 dollar O ring which is easily replaced but anything ontop may be more hassle than its worth. there are lots of small parts inside that u then have to fit back in. but i do not know your mecanical abilities so up to you.

Yeah I'll try get some pics up tonight...

The fuel adjustment screw... Is that on the side or the top?

The leak doesnt seem to be out any screw or the throttle lever just seems to be out the back of the plate at the join so we'll see...

the seals in the early GQ's are not suitable for low sulphur diesel.

my 89 model copped a tank full of extra low sulphur diesel on a trip to NT back in 98 or 2000 and BP paid to have all the seals in it replaced.

it was only a small batch and they upped the sulphur again which probably slowed down the deterioration but i would imagine a lot of seals failing by now.

it may need all the seals replaced by the new suitable rubber ones.
