Hi all,

I had my hubs rebuilt 2 months ago (about 3000klms) and everything was sweet until now.

I was 4WDing all day and when i got home i noticed a shitload of grease has been leaking out of the grove cut into the stub axle (picture shown below)

what is this grove for and why would it start leaking all the grease out. the grease doesnt appear to be contaminated with diff oil or water. Did i simpley put too much grease into the swivel hub when they were rebuilt?

That will be grease From the wheel bearings/hb, not the swivel housing. It needs to have pushed past a seal to get out there. Could you have forgotten to install the seal? If not d siluggest you've packed too much grease into the bearings/hub. Assuming the seal is still in place and intact it shouldn't cause a problem. Can't see that seal coming free from the hub but might be worth checking...

The hole is just a water drain - there shouldn't really be any grease in tha area.

thanks mate, you've been an excellent help. I had a good look over all the seals on the hub assembly. i found that the new seal (2 months old) on the back of the hub (in front of the wheel bearing) is damaged already, that didnt last long.
