Coily/Jimny Diff Ratios
Coily/Jimny Diff Ratios
Hey guys.
I'm just after a lil info that I can't seem to find anywhere
else. Does anyone know what the Coily Sierra diff ratios
are compared to a Jimny... I heard the jimny diffs were
slightly lower, any info would be appreciated.

96 Coily, 100mm lift, Jimny Front Diff, 4.09 diff gears, Reduction gears, 30" Trepadors, 6 Point Rollcage, Custom Bash Plates, Open diffs to give the big guys a run for their money!!
sic_zook wrote:depends manual n auto jimnys r differant n i have pulled down 2 sets of coily diffs n thay were both 3.9
the suzuki literature states there are two ratios, but from all the dealings i've had there is only one.
lwb 1.6efi,4sp auto,f&r airlockers,dual t/cases.custom coils.builder of ROAD LEGAL custom suzukis...and other stuff.

These are my plans. I'm just wonderingchester_390 wrote:could you change the coily suspension at the front to the same as a jimny? or are they same already? they do a 80mm lift for a jimny is only reason i ask
About the ratios... Cause if the jimny's are a lower
Ratio ill run jimny diffs front and back with an 80mm
Lift. But if they are the same, I'll just make up
Mounts for the coily diff.
And thanks everyone, kinda shed some light on
The sunject... The 4.09 in the jimny.. Is that a
Diff out of an auto or manual?

what diffs bolt straight into what? jimny diffs into a coily? You cant use a jimny lift in a coily unless you make new chassis mounts. The front suspension set up in a coily is completly different to the jimny. It uses a coilover sturt, the jimny has a separate shock and coil.sic_zook wrote:im prity sure the diffs bolt straight under but jimny takes coils n seperate shocks wich is better for lifting it but need to make shock hoops

I have spent today researching and driving
around Brisbane trying to find out if Jimny diffs
will bolt straight under the coily.
I always knew that I have to make new shock
mounts for the front of the chassis.
But to use the back diff in the coily sierra,
you need to make new shock mounts, raidus arm
mounts, spring saddles and new pan hard rod mounts.
None of the above meet up to the coily rear diff
set up, Jimny rear radius arms are not the same as
the coily rears but Jimny and Coily front arms are the same,
but both are running the same bushes.
Is anyone selling a coily diff housing?
I bent mine on the weekend.

i was at ipswich spares about 2 or 3 weeks ago and they had a coily there with both diffs still in it. youll need your own tools and a jack to go shopping there

Dont stick jimny diffs in a coily, they are narrower and would be a huge effort for no real gain. if you are really keen on the seperate shock / coil set up have a look at spamwells build. He used the coil chassis mounts from a jimny in his coily and some honda crv springs he has around 5" of lift.

Currently the diff is at Driveline Services and I'm awaiting
a quote to get the diff and axles straightened. So I might see
what they've got to say n depending on $$$ I'll give the wreckers
a call.
