Goodyear MTR Side wall strength .....

mmmm this will make a good add for the MTR side wall strength ....
NOT ................
This was the result from a day trip to Black duck. It was the front wheel on a Manx Buggy and was running around 10PSI .......

My brother in law had same type of puncture on his Baja claw tyre,but he was running 40psi

i have run mine down to less than 5 psi and never had a problem, i have the 35's and will soon be buying the 37's. I have heard alot about the side wall being too soft and i think that people only say that becouse they bag so well. Afew will always tear.
how did it happen anyway?

Any tyre can be punctured no matter what the make!!!
I put a slice in a 38.5 Baja Claw about 10 inches long in the side wall! The tyre was in very good nic (about 95%). Like i said this was on a Baja Claw which has one of the strongest sidewalls available for 4wdrives
. A rock or even a bit of sharp wood can destroy anything!
If it was a blow out than thats a different story, but a puncture or slashed tyre is all part of the 4wheeling game!

I have been running MTR's for a while and usually run them at 8-9psi offroad. I have never had any problems - and I have driven over some extremely sharp rocks.
Like POS said, you can puncture anything - but I think on average MTR's seem to be a bit better than some of the other 3-ply sidewall radials around.

havent punctured anything yet, but ive noticed that my mtr's have the lugs and sides alll chewed up pretty rough looking, Ryans are the same, its like they are too soft?? they dont have many kms on them at all! I do alot of highway driving in them.. I dont know why they are falling apart...is it quite normall?

Black Duck is open to just about anything. Bikes, buggies and 4WD's. rego isn't even an issue.
The tyre got buggered driving up a rock ledge. Front went up , front went down, tyre went Psssst.
yeah I know things get damaged ... part of the fun really. But you have to admit it is a very cool photo, right near the Durawall Logo ...

Yes that is a cool photo
you should send it too Good Year so they can use it for people who can't read, in explaining the difference between puncture proof and puncture resistant.
I like how the litte tear in the Durawall logo points right at the rip.
