Seems my turbo has seen better days.

Anyone suggest a replacement turbo?

I don't really want to waste time with wreckers yards; maybe all no good.

The Turbo on a 1kz is a CT-12B.

If you don't want to risk going to a wrecker, then I could only suggest you ring a few Turbo workshops and get quotes for a reco unit.
