Hey Guys,

I've got a Boss air compressor. Its the grande I think. 3/4 HP jobbie, 100% duty cycle. I picked it up second hand, but it needs a few parts. Does anyone know who the manufacturer is? I haven't had any luck finding out as i wanted to contact them to try to source some parts for it.

Cheers

HI Mate, good luck with your fix.

When it is time to do your install remember how big the thing is.

I have one of these and was very disappointed at its performance after install. It turned out that the cable i ran was a little undersize. (I ran a big cable) too much voltage drop to the back of the car for the compressor to perform at its optimum.

I ended up having 3 goes at this after taking it back to complain about the advertising suggesting that it could pump lots fast etc.

Go to CIG or BOC and buy THE BIGGEST single core wire (twice the size of jumper leads) (12mm to 15mm of copper core) straight to the back just for this thing and it will pur along well. Any less and you might as well go buy 2 cheapys and run one on each side of the car. It will just run slow and piss you off and burn out the cable.

The new high output ARB will go bang for bang with one of these for speed.

Good luck

Thanks mate, appreciate the tip.

My second battery is located at the back of the 4wd, near where the compressor will be. Thanks to a mate of mine I have connected the two batteries with cable that is rated to about 1kv (1000v). Its like stupidly thick and massively over engineered. I have no voltage drop :)

Was planning on using some heavy duty wire to do the solinod and compressor. Thanks champ

Also, I was real impressed with Boss hey. Called them up, gave them part numbers I found on their website, they gave me prices, i gave them my credit card details and they'll post the lot to me tomorrow.
