4WD R Series box... to 2wd?

Post by 50RTD »

Hi guys,

I have a non 4wd oriented question that i hope you R gearbox people can help me with. Im having fun trying to find R154 gearboxes that dont cost $1.2m. Is it possible to remove the transfer case from an R15# to run as a 2wd? If so, is it possible to do it without pulling the gearbox internals apart?

Thank you in advance!

Nope as you will have to pull it apart and remove and refit the main shaft gears onto the longer main shaft as is used in the R154 :D

This is a pic of the longer shaft next to a R154 now fitted with the R150/151 shorter shaft for 4wd use :D
