transfer case bearing Q

i pulled the handbrake drum assembly, with the speedo assembly off the back of my Transfer case on my 76 fj40, looking for the source of a bad rumble.
I found the outer ring of the roller bearing on the rear output shaft had come off. and my speedo gear looks to be stuck together with a plasticy substance, looks like araldyte that has set...
3 q's.
1any idea of the cost of a bearing, and could that be the source of the rumbling, which increased with speed when driving.
2 what is this araldyte stuff, and does anyone know a way of removing it from the gear.
3 how do i get the rest of the bearing off the output shaft, i'm trying to do this on the truck if possible, as i can't be arsed pulling the transmission
