aluminum air box??

hey guys i found a sheet of aluminum and i was goin to make a airbox out of it. all i need to no is how will it handle the heat and will it keep heat out of the airbox??/

i'd be more worried about it cracking from stress eventually - although rubber mounts would help that.

keeping it single wall would mean it'd heat and cool fast so that wouldnt be an issue.

Youll also need to do R&D for the flow pattern inside the box to make sure you're not causing undue drag on the air inside and hence reducing the air to the motor.

i made this still air box for my previous car, it was an import Toyota twin turbo JZX90. Image
i fitted a velocity stack behind the pannel filter to improve slow speed airflow and throttle responce Image
was easy enough to make, as you can see i just bent up the alluminium and riveted it together with some silicon between the joins.

Heres one of the ones ive made, its the one im using on my rig and i find its cool-warm (hot weather will heat it) when you drive and park it will get some heat soak ut in general it stays cool while driving with cool air comming in...
