Still got diff noise in Hilux!

Post by collins110 »

Iv just spent 1,500 bucks getting my rear 'locked' diff overhauled and it still makes a wining noise only at 60kms/h under acceleration... what could cause this? crown wheel and pinion were replaced! ... i have done one oil change will continue to do two more changes...

Are you sure its actually coming from the diff?

I'm assuming you have a hoist where you work (assuming you work at the place in your sig). You've had it up on the hoist with the wheels jacked and driven it to confirm its the diff?

Shoulda just put a banana in it i hear they're a magic rebuild tool.

Nah seriously you'd have to assume its something else if you had it rebuilt did they find any excess ware? wheel bearings are very common but easy to check or maybe its further up like tranny or g'box?
