hi the hj60 i have had a diff change not long before i bought it.my car is a 2h diesel and the spare car i got with it is a petrol, the petrol diff was put into my drive car because it was a bit noisy.my question is are the petrol and diesel diff ratios the same?the car hasnt realy been used in 4x4 since the diff was changed and i wanted to make sure it would be ok before i do a trip to the beach so i dont blow the gearbox or something.
also the handbrake on the car isnt adjusted properly, now the car had a 4 speed and it now has the 5 speed out of the petrol in it.does the 5 speed have some sort of handbrake in the gearbox or is it as normal on the rear brakes?i have been under the car and had a good look around and it looks like theres a handbrake cable going to the rear brakes but it looks quite different to the cars i have had.where do i adjust the handbrake on a hj60?
thank you for any info :)

Diff ratios are the same in all 60s.

All 60s had the h/brake on the rear wheels as standard.

Simple explanation of adjustment:
Adjustment is via the rubber bungs in the backing plate. Flat tip screw driver in there and turn the star wheel to adjust, will only turn one way unless you release the locking plate. Adjust with the wheel in the air til you hear it dragging slightly as it turns. Pump the brakes to settle the shoes and check the drag again.

You will probably find that if your hand brake doesnt work that the rear brakes are shot.

The handbrake manualy operates the rear brake shoes.

The when you pump the handbrake it
should adjust up the rear brakes but does not always work properly.

It is pretty easy to pop off the rear drums and see whats going on in there. Grab yourself a manual and get into it.
