best place to get OME suspension

Hi,
i was hoping there was a better place to buy 30mm lift OME front struts and springs for my LWB vitara rather than going to ARB as they have the highest prices.
ive sourced some king springs for rear for $150 a pair and commodore shocks to suit for $110 a pair. this is new and total for rear is $260 and ARB want $650 for the front pair and thats with a 5% club member ship discount.
if anyone on here can help me out where to get some OME at a decent price it would be much appreciated.

I think u may struggle with that one, my understanding was that OME is ARB (though i may be wrong)
also, as with anything you get what you pay for
theres a reason king springs are that cheap

I got mine from TJM at Jesmond (newcastle NSW) and they were about $100 cheaper than ARB.

yes and no, my uhf i got for $250 delivered from a web site and ARB sell the same unit for $350. thats a 40% mark up that ARB do on top of the other guy. while they do have some good products their prices are top dollar which is why i want the item if its sold somewhere else first. also the king springs are cheap because im getting it from the right place.
ive never had a problem with king springs if fact they are the best springs ive had on my past sierras. flogged them good, best travell and best ride.
do u have the OME suspension, if so how do u find it?

TJM do not sell Old Man Emu springs. A retailer may sell products from a number of different manufacturers including TJM and ARB but he wouldn't be a TJM owned and operated store.
Old Man Emu are ARB made and sold suspension. They are very god product and in my opinion worth the money. I ran them on my Sierra fro years and they gave great performance

just like the ARB deflator, looks kinda 100% similar to the Currie deflator in the states.
ARB are a brand. There's not a lot of money in manufacturing run of the mill parts when you can buy them ready made to your spec for lots cheaper and market it as your brand. I'm guessing things like tyre repair kits, recovery gear, roofracks are all sourced outside the arb manufacturing facilties.
There is nothing wrong with this. But its important to make the distinction and dispell any misconceptions there might be about a products origin. If ever unsure its best to ask.
I run OME dakar leafs (mixed leaves now). Good springs and definitely not made by ARB. But its good quality at a decent price. if you are paying any more than $500-$600 for a kit I would be getting other quotes.

nope they manufacture them to their specs etc at a spring manufacturer. no one else has or sells their springs. Dakar brand springs are made OS, in Malaysia I believe to tthe same specs etc but OS to save on the costs compared t the Australian made OME stuff
The deflator they bought the rights off Currie and made a few changes.
They design and make their own roof racks, that's how the Brown brothers started as roof rack manufacturers in their shed.
As you said it is important to get the facts right, unfortunately you didn't

For once I agree with Grimbo
You're 'run-of-the-mill' 4x4 store sources parts and components, they have little or nothing to do with the design process. Ome items are designed and made to ARB specs and have alot of customer specific components. Roof racks are made in thier factory.
Just think about this, there are only two major leaf spring makers in Aus, and only one shock manufacturer, so that does not leave alot of room for local sourcing.
As for the original statement that the struts are pricey, well yes they are, but one thing good quality struts are not is cheap to manufacture. A heap more tooling is used in the manufacture of struts over shocks.

You both missed my point. Read properly what I wrote Grimbo,
What I'm saying is that ARB do not manufacture the springs themselves. Designed and made to their specs by another manufacturer, which ARB outsource the manufacturing to.
Thats the point i'm trying to make. clear enough now?
Thanks for clearing up the roofrack thing Joe, that's a commonly held "misconception" doing the rounds.

Yes they don't manufacture all their springs themselves, the Dakars, the rest are I believe manufacturerd by ARB in Australia

well I can't imagine head office for TJM would be too impressed with one of their stores selling the oppositions products. Kinda like going to a Holden dealer and buying a brand new Falcon or going to Maccas and getting KFC.
