Extractors and Exhausts

Just read some previous posts on this topic. Looking for a small cheap increase in power for my 4.2 Diesel GQ and someone mentioned Extractors and bigger exhaust.
Has anyone had any experience with adding this to an otherwise stock TD4.2?
Anyone know how much it would cost for this?
Anyone know where is a good place to get this done?
I know everyone is gonna say save for a Turbo, but a turbo is at least 4 grand and im guessing that this will be under $1000

If its a TD4.2 you already have a turbo on the engine. I have a td27 and extractors and going to 2½" does help alot.

Nope,
TD4.2 is the standard GQ Diesel 4.2, no Turbo. TD does NOT stand for 'Turbo Diesel'.
May enquire about some extractors and bigger exhaust.

IMO save money towards a turbo down the track.
Standard exh and OE exh man not too bad.

Replace it with a petrol.........
The "T" is the Nissan designation for that series motor, TB42 is petrol, TD42 is diesel.
Like an RB30 is a 3ltr petrol, and a RD28 is a 2.8ltr diesel.
Nissan use a T at the end for turbo, for example a Nissan GTR RB26DETT is a R series motor, petrol (B), 2.6ltr (26), twin cam (D), with injection (E), and twin turbos (TT).

I agree $4000 alot of $$$, still tossing up whether to do it or not.
I put a set of Pacemaker pipes and a 2.5" system on mine and it makes a bit of difference, not a heap, but noticeable.
Another thing to do is get rid of the precleaner just behind the pass. side headlight. I replaced mine with a piece of 3" exhaust tube with a 45deg. mandrel bend bolted to the inner guard fed by my (home made) snorkel (also of 3"' exhaust tube) All powdercoated. Also, use a paper filter in the main (now only) air filter as apparently the oiled foam (FinerFilter type) make it too difficult to breathe.

A guy i drive with reckons 4 to 5 ponies out of extractors and 2 3/4 (yeah 3/4) exhaust and straight thru muffler. Also a kickarse note out of it, if you're into that sort of thing.
Of course a snail would be better, as my 3B powered Yota still overtakes him up hills, but you're gonna need an exhaust anyway to get your snail spinning well aren't you??

You're only what?? one third or perhaps one quarter of the way of gettin a FULL TURBO KIT. Why waste your hard earned money on extractors and pipes if you're goin to go the turbo route eventually.
Extractors and pipe will set you back up to a grand dependin on what system you get. I cant justify that kind of money.
Ive a 4.2 that im rebuilding and goin in the GQ and a STOCK system is goin in until i can afford to go forced induction (turbo or s/c)
