GQ to GU - what's transferable

I've just got my hands on a 04 GU ute to replace my old gq ute. Now the old girl is lifted 3" and has superiors panhards, tie rod and draglink, will i be able to put this gear onto the new one and put the GU parts onto the GQ? If not can it be easily modded (ie rod ends) or am i up for a whole new set of gear?

I would go and measure it up but im stuck at Port Hedland with the GU, working for the next 6 weeks and the GQ is still down in Perth.

Cheers
Dave

Tie rod and drag links might be too short.

Drag link and tie rod will be too short. Panhard rods should be OK being a ute, they stuck with smaller GQ size chassis end bush when the wagons went to the big ends.

I would have thought that if the panhard fits then so should the draglink. I can understand the tie rod not fitting because of the wider diffs.

How much more width do the GU diffs have over a GQ?

GU diffs are about 40-45mm wider than GQ. You might get away with the drag link, but the rod end threads will be wound most of the way out, not worth the risk IMO.

yeah i thought they would be at the limits. Im more concerned with the panhard cos that can save me 500 odd bucks of my new suspension setup.

seeing that its an 04 model gu you will need different rear panhards...

As the rear has a large spherical bush...

its a ute tha panhards should be the same as gq untill the later models, you should check though i have seen a few ppl come in with utes and gq adjustable panhard rods fit

If all the gear you have is superior im lead to believe all there stuff fits both
the utes didnt have the spherical bush on the panhard untill uch later than the wagons but you would have to have a look see
