Landcruiser Troopy - Petrol or Diesel?

A few years back, I was rtavelling from Fitzroy Crossing through to Broome and came across a troopy on the side of the road. They said they were out of fuel and did we have any spare petrol? We didn't and then left, but I have never seen a petrol troop carrier. I suspect that they simply wanted some stuff to sniff. Did Toyota ever make petrol troopies?

Troopies have been available as petrol since mid 60's or diesel since 1979.
More commonly since 1981 though.

Recently? Are you still wearing parachute pants, too? :P

They ran the 1FZ from around 93 right up until 07.
