why would my waeco 40l all of a sudden start melting plugs any help would be great as i need it over christmas and i have melted 3 plugs in 4 weeks

Presuming it's the "cigarette plug" which goes into the vehicle socket? Has it always been plugged into the same socket?
It's probably a problem in the socket generating the heat, which you're seeing as a melted plug. Remember that the socket is designed to make something glow red hot - it won't melt too quickly.
Try disassembling the socket and checking for dodgy connections.
