Premier winch - price? and current draw vs tigerz?

Anyone done any better than about $1500 for a premier winch lately?
The big selling point for me is the minimal current draw (using the 4wd monthly test). Anyone got any sums comparing the current draw to that of any of the tigerz11 range?
Cheers

This is another option to the premier and it will not destroy your rope if you ever get some to replace the steel cable like other winches.
Mako TDS Series Low Mount Winch
Features:
1. External Brake
All of our Mako TDS Series winches run an external automatic cone brake drum. This feature is seen in more expensive winches as it is perfectly designed for synthetic rope use. Running a synthetic rope on a winch that features an ‘in the drum’ brake operation can often lead the integrity of the rope being compromised as the massive amounts of heat that is generated by the winch brake dissipates through the exterior of the drum and directly into the rope. Having a positive cam lock external brake means that there is no heat generated on the drum thus keeping rope strength qualities intact and holding the required load as more pressure that is applied, the tighter the brake becomes.
2. Rotating Ring Gear
When a winch is needed, the user is generally not focused on taking their time and being gentle with the winch itself. With the rotating ring gear featured on the Mako TDS Series winches, this isn’t a problem. Boasting a huge 18mm drop pin that engages the rotating ring gear in one of the eight provisions provided.
Whilst 18mm doesn’t sound huge, when compared to the 2-3mm sliding ring gear pin found in almost every other winch on the market (which, under strain has a tendency of simply ‘snapping off’) this clutch operation design can withstand any amount of abuse.
3. Line Pull Speed
With an unloaded line pull speed of nearly 18meters per minute the Mako TDS 9,500lb winch is almost as fast as the famous Warn 8274. In fact, if the Mako 9.5 had a larger diameter drum (i.e. the same as the 8274) it would actually be faster! This is a great draw card with both 4x4 winch competition participants and the general public alike.
4. Higher Tie Bars
In a perfect world, every situation that required the use of a winch would feature a winch point directly in line with the vehicle. Unfortunately this is not the case and more often than not, a lateral winch-in is required. Doing this creates a build up of rope/cable on either end of the drum and quickly this build up jams the rope/cable against the winch tie bars. Featuring slightly higher tie bars on our range of Mako winches obviously does not eliminate this problem, however, it does delay this down fall and allows the user to winch for longer.
Additional Features:
· Heavy duty sealed solenoids
· Low amp draw
· 5m Control lead with power and operation indicators
· V-Ring seals inside both drum flanges
· 3 stage planetary gear box
· Roller fairlead
· 12 month warranty
We are selling these if you are interested. I can also email all the info you need.

Will the 12K winch fit in a nissan standard winch bar or only the 9.5K?

Both 9500lb and 12000lb winches will fit into the factory winch bar. They are both the same dimensions.

My premier (and its on a IFS Hilux) pulled a mate's patrol out when his own warn 12 000 wouldn't.

I rate the Mako's. I've had a good look at the internals and they are a solidly built and well finished off winch. I would be cautious in saying that build quality is up there with Warn as they are relatively unproven here in AUS but they are better built than some other popular chinese winches.
Only downside is the external cone brake makes them a bit long. At 612mm they don't fit a 75 series between the chassis rails, on top is fine though. Not sure on the later model 79 or 76 but the earlier ones had a narrow chassis.
If someone can prove this different that would be great, this is info I got off a potential buyer of a mako with a 75.

China is making a lot of good stuff and has been for a long time now. It comes down to quility control and they have certainly been forced to step up.
