i own a gu ute with a tube bar and i dont have any room left for spotties on the front - i am very keen to make a folding bar for top of my headboard but i dont really know how to go about it?

does anyone have any input or has anyone here done it if so do you have some pictures?

do them make 12v electric actuators or maybe electric over oil? or do i have to go pneumatic with a comprsessor tank, airlines etc? and where would i buy this stuff??

i want it to spin 180 degress and wire the switch up so that when i hit reverse they spin down and face backwards

and the fact i want it to spin 180 makes the whole thing seem alot harder because i will need some sort of a two stage fold??

i realise this seems quite hard but i want the challenge and i will take pictures of the build

thanks

An offset hinge, cam sought of style similar to compound bows. This will allow almost 180 degrees of movement in one motion in one stage If you use heim/ball joints

There will be a fair bit of load on the ram or linear actuator to push it through the 180degree cycle, going the manual gas strut solves the load issues as you push it up manually and the strut just holds it in place but still allows the lights to fold out of the way if they come into contact with overhead tree branch etc.

To run the pneumatic stuff, i use my air locker compressor, and just added another solenoid into the tank to run the ram.

My air ram is from a printing press.
