hey guys will ive had a look thru some other topics be for i put these up the only one i could find was one about a 4.2td and i dont no if its the same as a 2.8td.It started to play up the other day really hard to start just wined over and over than start with a bit of trouble so i thught it could be the fillter so cleand it out primed it same thing but now when it does start and i try to drive i get to about two grand and it cuts out but when its not driving i can rev it hard. Any ideas would be great it my only car and i need it asap. thanks damo13

Did you replace the fuel filter or just clean it out?? - replace it.
Even if it runs it may still have air in the system somewhere, which is what it sounds like. If the filter plunger is still soft, start the engine and keep pumping till the plunger is really hard to press on.

Dont know if (like 4.2's) the 2.8 has a thimble gauze filter in the top of the fuel pump, but if thats blocked it can also cause the symptoms you're describing.

Did you prime it at the filter first then at the injector pump? By that i mean did you bleed it ?

After cleaning the filter did you plug the MAF sensor back in? (if you unplugged it) I've done this and scratched my head for a bit wondering why I couldn't drive over two thousand rpm
