Rear Brakes 1997 Pajero

Hi,
just as told by my friendly Mitsu mechanic, that one of my LH side rear brake pistons is stuck. He says that it cannot be fixed, he need to order a complete new unit and as he says further, it has to be renewed on both sides
even though the right side one is in perfect working condition.
Any idea or hint how to get that stuck brake piston moving again?
