So picture this.. Ur all packed up ready to leave Melbourne. You have your other car in tow on an "A" frame. Wake up sat morn early i jump in the SD33T intercooled MQ shute, she jumps in her 02 626.
Off we head bit of weight on the nissan to make tow safer. Get on to he ring road head up the hume fwy, headed to north QLD. All great, desert cooler alloy rad, coolant under 80deg, pyro sitting about 300 - 450deg.
30km from mel, At this point getting more comfortable with the rodeo on the "A" frame doing me 100kmh i was happy car pulling like a bloody freight train boost up to 18psi. Started to hear a ticking noise thought was manifold gasket didnt worry. Then felt and sounded Odd to me. slowing at this point went to change to 4th clutch felt very harsh bad vibration into 4th into the boost again then knocking noise badly under boost.
Pull over jump out with idleing up with bonnet smoke from exhaust running shit house. BROKEN CRANK..
So to all out there with a SD33 used your wastegate when towing. Great start to my holiday. But 60klms from melb now about 600$ to get 2 vehicles towed back to home (rodeo no eng)
Believe it or not made it back home to melb with a broken crank doing about 1500rpm still towing the rodeo. Some of you may have seen me on the fwy's. Parked cars in driveway because it was running on borrowed time i think. Must have broken in the same place as another one i saw, just in front of No. 1 big end journel though the oil gallery. But on the right angle that it was still driving the front peice of crank..
Will keep posted tryin to get a billet crank at a resonable price as the motor is i good nic, 400Psi compression, new head, 2000$ injector pump and injectors
Too all and their friends and family a very merry xmas and a happy new one..
Cheers Sterlo

SD33t Broooken crank!!!! and Merry Xmas
lol its your old ute pongo but on a swb turbo chassie.
When i built the truck not long after bying it off you, i plated off the heat exchange on the block and it runs a 300x200mm oil to air cooler on the front of the rad. Sump has always been touchable after a long pull so cant see it being to hot myself.
At the end of the day it was ment for 8psi boost not 18, Not forgetting that they are only a 4 main crank, i guess its the weakest link.
