Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi Folks,
This is probably of most interest to those of us in NZ with jap import mitsis.
After hunting around on the web for a while and several unsuccessful downloads, I've managed to get the Japanese Mitsubishi ASA program up and running on my XP machine. It's a lot better that the american WinCAPS program I did have.
The best bit is that it recognises my chassis number and it has all the correct part numbers and drawings, plus it is considerably more user friendly than WinCAPS.

Anyone interested in how to do this?

Scroll down to the links section, and download the A file and the B file. Looks like they have different ones for different regions, but I got the Japanese ones. MMC_ASA_JAP_A.rar and MMC_ASA_JAP_B.rar (240 MB and 200 MB). I presume the process is the same for the others.

You will need something like WinRAR to extract the files.
The rar archives have a password: dsm-club.org
Inside the rar files are .iso files. WinRAR can also extract these. I put the files in C:\ASA. There were some duplicate files across the two archives, I just ignored them.

Apparently there is some sort of fix necessary if you are running Vista. I've got XP, so I don't know whether this works or not.

Ah, good point.
It's the parts database (supercedes WinCAPS).
You can get all the drawings an part numbers etc...

I'll make this a sticky.
I downloaded the Asia one which covers general export and it does recognize my NP's Vin no.
For example if your looking for say a front grill for a V78W (NM/NP 3.2DiD) it will come up with about 60 part no's (different color combo's etc).
Using your Vin no it will come up with the exact part no of what you have on your vehicle.
This ASA has so much more data than the old CAPS program.
I had a bit of trouble with the crack file after downloading and installing but works fine now after some stuffing around. I had to change the .dll file name in the Prog folder to be able to copy in the .dll crack file so the registry could be opened. Like you I used Daemon to view the actual files from the iso image and then burnt them onto 2 x CD's for the install.

PS - also found something very interesting.
The Gen 2 Paj did have a factory PTO option for both the 3.0 and 3.5/2.8TDI (there are different gears to match the 1.925 & 1.90 t/cases). It shows the whole layout (quite different to the 1.944 Gen 1 PTO) including winch, mount and driveshafts. There are two operating mechanisms that are shown (perhaps for manual & auto ?).

hey frank, dont spose you could post up the pic of the gen 2 pto layout? im not computer savy enough to get that program working on my laptop.

It would also seem that you could get a factory fire extinguisher and emergency flares with your Gen2

Bit of a n00b question, but where do i find the chassis number?

its on the chassis plate, top passenger side of firewall. also has things like the diff ratios, motor and trans details and think even the trim codes.

and i actually had one of those flares untill i moved overseas and threw lots of stuff out...

Yeah I'd say that the GPS screen wasn't sold on the general export Asian market (I couldn't find it either). It also wasn't sold on the US market but I have seen them in UK models and of course they would have been availalable on JDM models.
I'm going to eventually download the other regions there are four all up :-
- Europe
- Japan
- Asia
- US
Still can't work out this online update thingy even the Russkies were going bonkers on that chat forum trying to suss it out. The latest stuff I could find was late 2007 that was with update 1.40 (assumming it insatlled ok) there is update 1.50 but looks like they haven't cracked it yet ?
When I get back to work in early Jan I'll PDF all the PTO stuff and stick it online for download.

There are a few getting around NZ (imports) with standard factory PTO on Gen 2 2.5's.


Never seen any 3.0 ones but the other option is the transfer gears from a Gen 1 2.5 fit straight into the smaller super select box so that enables a PTO + super select with the 1.944 ratio

All the small super selects were 1.925 the same gears as the 3.0 V6 Gen 1 t/case which is basically the same as the 1.944 t/case so the gears are interchangeable alright.
Gen 1 (2.6 & 2.3/2.5 diesels) = 1.944
Gen 1 3.0V6 & Gen 2 3.0V6 (small super select) = 1.925
Gen 2 3.5/2.8TDI = 1.90 (large super select)
I could find 3 different part no's for the PTO idler gear where it meshes to the t/case idler gear so I take it that's for the 1.944, 1.925 & 1.90.
There were two part no's for the Gen 1 PTO idler gear (1.944 & 1.925) and two part no's for the Gen 2 PTO (1.925 & 1.90). The 1.925 part no was the same so that idler gear was used in both Gen 1 & 2 PTO's.
The Gen 2 PTO looks quite a bit different to the Gen 1 assembly especially the shaft & joints so looks like a bit of custom work would be required to get a Gen 1 PTO into a Gen 2 ?

Yeah, awesome find. I downloaded the asia one as well, however neither of my Mitsy's are on file. (both 94, Lancer and Paj).

I used 7zip to extract the RAR files. Burnt the two image (ISO) files to separate discs. Once on disc all the files can be accessed. Just put the .dll file in the path suggested (it will replace existing file) and then run the crack from the disc.

Yeah I installed the Japan one but their vehicle ID is different.
Looks like they have a 9 digit Chassis number for specific vehicle ID.
In Oz we have a 17 digit VIN no which works in the Asian ASA my 06 Paj is in there but my wife's 07 Outlander is not. Also my old 93 & 95 Paj's aren't in there either.
I put in some random VIN's from late model Paj's for sale on Car Search (dealers always list the VIN no in the add) and all of them came up. I did the same for some Outlanders and some came up and some didn't.
The database must be incomplete for the Asian ASA for some reason ??

Hey guys, im not the most computer literate person around and am having issues with the asa prog. I got it all to load up, before the prog started i copied the crack mmdata.dll file over to the installed prog.

When i go to run the mmc file, it just opens up in notepad and does bugger all.

Am i meant to copy both the mmc and the mmdata files from the crack file into the prog file in the installed program?

How am i meant to run the mmc file to update the asa install?

Will be great to actually get the thing to run, thanks if you can help

You'll need to right click on the MMC.reg file and choose "Merge". Then continue to follow the instructions.

On a different topic, are there many mitsu challengers done up over in nz?
I notice that the challenger run the 2.8 and triton over there run the 4m41 3.2 lt did diesel engine with the superselect an option available in the top models.

Anyone over there stuck the 3.2 did into a challenger????? Ive been doing a bit of thinking about it.............

looked at 4e's paj with the 4m41, im thinking of the engine, transmission, superselect and maybe upgrade to the newer ABS stuff as well if it can get retorfitted by simple means.........

the tritons and challengers over in oz are only the 2.8, they not doing the 3.2 lt over here.

Anyone know of how many different versions of the 3.2 did there are??? i know of the first one and then the common rail, just thinking of which donor vehicle would be best suited.

still no joy with the asa install. exactly the same as before, obviously im not doing something right.

did full install and had no probs, copied the .dll file across to the prog file, and then right clicked on the MMC icon, and then merge, and still just opens up in notepad with a whole bunch of numbers and letters.
Any other ideas????????

Regarding the challengers: There just aren't that many of them around. Seen a few running around the streets, but I've never seen a single one set up.

The same problem also occured after my Japan ASA installation.
I couldn't manage to submit my VIN no.
But i realized that i can reach the vehicle models by typing anything on the "model" area then pushing the enter button. The list of vehicles window appears, further steps are simple.

Am just running Windows XP.

It keeps coming up that program requires a key to register since ive been unable to properly install the crack file or update the program im guessing.

If/when it comes time to do a rebuild, im seriously looking into doing the conversion and looking into a nz triton with the 3.2 and superselect auto, but figuring it all out would be much easier if i can get the ASA to run,

Hmm - strange.
Try:
Start, run...: 'regedit' [OK]
File - Import...
Select the mmc.reg file [OK]

If this doesn't work, I'll PM you my email and get you to send me the reg file you've got and I'll compare it to mine - might be something wrong with it.

This can also be found on at least one private torrent tracker that I know of, I won't post the name but you can search for "ASA" if you have access you will find it. It has all of the regions included too.

Also on the following forum someone has turned it into a nice little installer package which will be easier for people without computer skills
