G'day, im getting some new tyres soon for my gq shorty and just stuck on what to get..
Tyres i have in mind are all 33x12.5R15.. BFG Km2, Maxxis Bighorn, Toyo Open Country MT (expensive?) and Procomp MT's.
Anyone had these tyres? Are BFG Km2's still coming in as soft compound from other countrys?
What is going price on these tyres for around brisbane area?
Is it really worth it to go 35" ?
thanks brent

Type those first 2 tyres into the search section and you should get some good reading. I have km2"s in a 33 on my troopy and have clocked up some 9000 ks on them with minimul wear and great off road traction. From what I have read the bighorns are a good item aswell for a bit less. Then the list goes on, mtz's are a bit cheeper than bfg's at my local dealer, same as claws. Then there is the silverstone mt 117 sport in 285 75 16 (33) for bugger all on ebay, followed by the silverstone extreme (which is available in 33 again
) which is probably cheaper than most of the road bearing muddies mentioned but they wont last as long. I suppose it depends on both your budget and what you expect from a tyre. Be prepared to drop your tyre pressure accordingly off road and you will see good traction from just about any tyre with open tread.

I have pro comp MT, not really impressed with them.
I owned cooper stt, great tyre but terrible in muddy clay terrain. Glue up bad.
I had 35" Claws and was super happy with them too
I have changed to Mickey T MTZ's, very happy with the on road and off road performance mate.

Thanks for info
im leaning towards the BFG's and bighorns, heard nothing but good things about bighorns other then when they wear down they get noisey on road. Havn't heard much about BFG KM2's but a friend said he would get them over bighorns if he didnt have budget.
I have searched many threads about all these tyres (except Procomp's) just need some help to choose, IMO they are all good tyres.

i run 35x12.5 bighorns and there great ive had bfgs, boggers, copper ssts, radial 35 claws, am am very impressed with them especialy on the rock work not exactly boggers in the mud but what is. ive heard of mtz side walls tearing out beacause of the stiffness of them.

Friend of mine runs 33 bighorns on his bundera. they work great and are good on road, off road, mud and sand.
4wd action also gave them a rave review ahead of other products at twice the price.
I run buckshots and i'm very pleased with those but they are not as aggresive as bighorns. They suit me as i still do a fair bit of daily road use.
