Blew a right CV last nite getting out of a bog, should i buy Longfields or just stick to standards for the cruiser?
I dont do heavy duty 4wd with it like the old one its more of a tourer.
Just pondering whether or not the longfields are worth it or has anyone got any other suggestions.

Get in contact with locktup4x4 and look at the strengthened CV's they have on offer, There are cheaper alternatives to longfields which are just as strong.

How much did you pay for the replacment?
I thought longs were expensive until i worked out how much i'd spent on replacment CV's
The only drawback with the longs is that they wear quicker (30,000 miles is the suggested lifespan, i think), so if you're doing alot of high speed driving in 4wd they may not be the best option)

but then you get a new set for free, times well with replacing your wheel bearings etc

no you don't. lifetime warranty covers failure, NOT wear.

big call, i've never seen a CV destruction test where longs haven't finished heaps higher than the competition.
the question is, will the original poster need that extra strength.
what size tire you running O.P.

Just 33" tyres mate, not using this rig for full on stuff, just mild stuff.
I have twin ARB lockers in it too.

then if they wear down, drive harder and break them?

if they break at the wear point, they probably won't warranty them.
if your only running 33's, 27 spline longfields or the "stronger than stock" trailgear ones offered by locktup should be strong enough, but wear issues are still a concern as they're a softer material.
so unlock your hubs till you need 4wd

Still fine?
Have you had them out and inspected them for wear at all? Take some photos if you could.

You have the magic CV destructing aid... Lockers..
It's your choice, Either learn to drive in a manner to avoid crunching Cv's with lockers or go a longfields.
I ran a 60 with stock CV's with Q78 swampers for years with out destroying CV's. but you need to be constantly mindful.

Cheers Aussie Blue, the longys are lookin to be the best option.
When i blew the right one the other night i was bogged on a 45 degree angle in a trench with the winch pulling left so alot of pressure was on the right wheel, without the locker in the opposite wheel was spinning and was not helping the winch. So i had no choice but to lock it in and keep the wheel turning.
Thanks for the help guys..
