Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Are they easy to get fixed when they aren't functioning correctly? Would you get the mechanic to do it while they are servicing it or would you just get an auto electrician to do it?

What is it doing? (or not doing?)

[EDIT] Is it the kind that keeps (kept) indicating fuel level after the ignition is switched off... or does (did) it return to E when switched off?

auto electrician. But they would only check that teh gauge is getting voltage etc when its supposed to. If the sensor in teh tank is not operating correctly, they would likely recommend a new one be installed.

Or something like that

Mine also is not functioning 100% correctly. I notice when I fill it up ( so no more fuel will fit in the tank pretty much) the guage is still slightly below the full line. It also drops pretty quickly to 1/2 way.
In most cars it goes past the full line - not my Feroza !

Does this happen to anyone else?

ANyone know how to fix it ?

I have the same problem with my fuel gauge.
When i completely fill the car up, the gauge only goes just past 3/4. So i have to use the odometer, once the car hits 450kms i fill it up again. I am not sure if that is good economy but the car has 31x10.5's on it. And i do give it a hard time!
Is that about right for fuel consumption??

450km is good for even standard tyres. The full sixty litres doesn't appear to be useable, I average around 10.5l /100km.

I'm guessing here, but the problem is most likely the sender unit in the fuel tank. Download the service manual I've posted on the internet and it will most likely give a method for testing the sender unit. It's just a big variable resistor that changes resistance as the float level goes up and down.

This is exactly what mine is doing, I have been going on the odemetor as well. Example....filled it up yesterday morning, have only done 150 km in it and its already on half....took me a while to work out that one

I have the manual and had a quick look over the area regarding the fuel guage and it did give a bit of insight on how to test it.

I havn't totally worked out what to do yet because I havn't had the time to pull it apart and find out why it does it.

Its annoying though, when I spend all that money on fuel I like to see the guage right up there past the full line and stay there for a couple of days !

Has anyone actually fixed this problem yet?

Out of interest it appears so far only people with later model Ferozas are having this problem? (post '95?)

You'd expect the earlier models like mine to suffer more from a problem like this due to their age.

It could have been a bad batch that they made?? Otherwaide known as the "friday arvo car"
