got a hj 60 with 2h diesel motor im starting to try fix it up

having troubles with electrical
early this year when i was driving i smelt a strong acid smell when i poped the hood i found the feusable link to glow plugs burnt out

i replaced it with a quick fix

on the way home i found the battery was draining and the alt not charging

now when home i found the batt was stuffed and the alt was no longer charging
when i put a new batt in and turn the keey to heat the glow plugs i find it turns on then stright back off again

i unpluged the glow plug relay under the hood still dose the same thing i also un did starter relay same thing,
i put a brand new solinoid still turns right off and dosent heat the plugs

any ideas???

all i know to do is to set a new switch in to head the glow plugs by a seperate button,

but im not sure im going to have problems with the new alt at all?
