any suggestions or photos of how you get the handbrake to work please.
my problem is the cable is rubbing across my leaf spring causing a cutting action.

Get a longer cable, the hiace vans ring a bell for being long enough, or the better option is just to remove some lift to bring it back down to useful
.

Go a tailshaft handbrake instead, The drum/cable setup never works properly anyway.

Might be a n00b question but what's involved in this? How do they work? I'm farkin sick of it. Useless things they are. I'd probably have a crack at doing it myself if I can.

My handbrake works all of the time except when there is mud in the drums, the self adjusters in the drums always seize up, give em a bit of a service every now and then and they are fine.
Do you have a pic of what and where is the problem, can you re route cable at all, or bolt a mount to the floorpan or wherever will work, to pull the cable out of the way of the leaves.
How much lift do you have for this problem to arise so i dont make the same mistake...

$600 bloody hell thats worth more than my car hahahah i wish.
all the problems seem to be from the rear cable running along the diff then across the spring pack.
1st thort was to extend the guides from the diff but the ideal fix will be to extend the arm from the brake drum?
people who have lifting blocks will know how to fix this problem i'm guessing...

Just put something non abrasive but strong around the cable.
